Introduction

Edge Hill State School provides an environment that allows students to achieve the best possible educational outcomes. Students are able to enhance their learning through the integration of computers into the curriculum and the effective use of learning technology on a daily basis.

We provide opportunities for our students to:

  • develop a love for learning
  • possess the skills to be life-long learners
  • master a solid core of academic content
  • become effective problem-solvers and decision-makers
  • recognize and realize their full potential, and
  • become productive members of society.

The Edge Hill State School community believes that technology, in its present and future forms, presents students, teachers and the community with powerful means to accomplish those aspirations we hold in common. Computers are simply one of the many tools which can be utilised to achieve specific purposes and goals. Specifically, we believe that learning technology can support our broad academic goals by:

  • providing timely, unlimited access to data and information
  • enabling and stimulating users to express their creativity
  • facilitating individual learning and teaching to maximize student success
  • providing diverse modes of communication
  • promoting higher-level thinking skills to solve authentic problems
  • promoting learning of basic skills and content
  • providing efficient and cost effective use of time and resources for management, teaching, and learning
  • facilitating the development, organisation, and presentation of ideas to achieve intended purposes
  • facilitating collaborative learning and teaching to maximise student success
  • promoting the integration of curriculum, disciplines, instruction, and modes of learning, and
  • promoting adult, parent, and community learning, communication and involvement.
